Ultimate Ultra-Violet!

Want to plan an ultra-special wedding? Pantone’s Color of the Year is here and perfect for the occasion.

Ultra Violet is what the color guru company describes as communicating “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.” Now what bride wouldn’t that for their wedding?

Plan the ultimate Ultra Violet wedding with these ideas and tips to keep in mind.

  1. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!

Ultra Violet is the perfect pop of color against a white wedding dress (though you could also go all-in with a full purple gown), which means it’s a great hue to accessorize with. Instead of “something blue,” why not go “something Ultra Violet”? Go glam with purple shoes, purple earrings, or purple anything, really.

  1. Think Stationery

Like the idea of something bold like Ultra Violet but not sure about using it too much on your wedding day? Go low-key ultra with invitations or wedding stationery that make use of the trendy color. Take inspiration from companies like Momental Designs, which highlights Ultra Violet as a color that will “definitely make a statement in stationery this year.” Momental uses the color in wedding invitation elements ike hand-painted purple watercolor blooms.

  1. Add Pops of Color With Floral

Love the idea of purple floral invites? Go one step further by choosing matching floral, a perfect place for incorporating fun new colors like Ultra Violet into a wedding.

The folks at FiftyFlowers.com agree.  “Flowers play a huge part in weddings and with this eye-catching color the floral options are endless!” says FiftyFlowers.com CEO Liza Roeser Atwood.  Some of the wholesale bulk flower company’s favorite flower choices for fitting Pantone’s newest color of the year include using Ultra Violet anemone or violet twilight tulips as focal flowers accented with filler flowers of purple Lisianthus or purple Matsumoto asters.

  1. Don’t Overdo It

Because Ultra Violet is so ultra, it’s also important not to go overboard. Atwood says the key to working with Ultra Violet is using it as an accent. Begin with neutral tones and slowly incorporate the bold hue for those fun pops of color, she says.

  1. Go Ultra Purple With a Monochromatic Color Scheme

To offset the boldness of the color, FiftyFlowers.com also recommends using Ultra Violet as part of a monochromatic color scheme, which can be both elegant and budget-friendly.

“Pair Ultra Violet with other shades in the purple color family to create a distinct look,” Atwood recommends. The enchanting color can also pair well with white flowers or in a color scheme that includes grey or silver (Ultra Violet would also pair perfectly with metallics, which always seem to be “in”).
